Abstract

The self centring chuck has radial guide grooves in which main jaws (4) can be moved by a driving hub. Clamping jaws (5) are mounted on the main jaws. A jaw drive for the clamping jaws is mounted in each main jaw. This drive enables the clamping jaws to be adjusted to the diameter of the workpiece. A ram (7) which is part of the drive, can be used to secure the clamping jaws to the main jaws. The ram has a swallow tail end. The clamping jaw can slide with a T groove over this end of the ram. An eccentric pin (8) engages with a hole in the ram. The pin has an internal square at its end and is operated by a key.
