Abstract
The hydraulic turbine is installed at a great depth underground. It is supplied with water from a column with a height at level. The water flows out of the turbine into a tank at a low level, and from there flows into a double acting pump. The water is then pumped to a level above the column heights and, according to Pascal's theorem, this can be done using less power than that generated by the turbine. The water flows back through the pipes into the column to repeat the cycle. The surplus power can then be used to generate electrical power.
