Abstract
The automatic speed limiter comprises a variable length piston (5) and body (3) connected into the accelerator linkage, and a speedometer with a pair of electrical contacts (151, -2,-3). The speed required is set by rotating a disc on the speedometer, which determines the configuration of the contacts. In operation, the contacts detect when the speed exceeds or falls below a preset range about the required speed. The electrical circuit formed actuates a relay switch (R) which passes current to the piston armature causing it, and consequently the accelerator linkage, to change length, returning the car speed to the set range. A manual override switch (K) allows the driver to resume full control at any time.
