Abstract

The trolley (1) consists of a rigid square frame guided by tapered wheels (3,4) at each corner, the wheelbase being adjusted to fit the gauge of the railway lines (2). The trolley is propelled by a bicycle, which may be engine driven or pedalled. Supports (5,8) carry the cycle's front axle and rear frame above one rail of the track, the supports being adjustable in height to give good adhesion between the tyre and rail. The position of the cycle rear wheel behind the trolley and the tapered guide wheels give directional stability. The remaining area of the frame forms a platform for carrying people or materials.
