Abstract

A sanitary installation e.g. bath tub, sink or bidet is mfrd by forming a first layer for the inner surface of the installation by heat-forming a plastic material e.g. polymethyl methacrylate, and separately forming the outer layer from e.g. ABS which includes inserts, plugs, attachments, etc. for fixing the installation. The surfaces to be joined together are treated with adhesive materials, e.g. styrene for the ABS and methylene chloride for the polymethyl methacrylate, and the edges are joined together. The two layers are placed in a shaping device, and the space between them is filled by injection of an insulating plastic foam e.g. polyurethane foam. Pref. at the level of the edges the layers are shaped to form a support and joined together by adhesion with good sealing properties.
