Abstract

The engine crankshaft bearing bolts onto the housing during machining, and has two perpendicular plates (4, 5). Both plates have their front portions (5) hinged on a bottom pin (6). Rollers running in races (22, 23) form a circular track in the space between the plates. The edges of these rollers support a flat disc, of equal thickness, free to move. The disc is in two pieces (30, 31) and has several eccentric holes (32, 33, 34, 35) in it. The journalled section P of the crankshaft is held in one of these holes, and the bearing is closed by swinging the hinged plate upwards and locking under a latch (7 to 18). Deflection is prevented during machining and vibration is absorbed.
