Abstract
Step-by-step brake motor with variable reluctance is claimed in which(a) an annular rotor is provided, having slots on each of its walls and mounted between two internal and external stators for which the wall facing the rotor is provided with electro magnetic means cooperating with the corresponding slots in the rotor, (b) the magnetic circuit of the external annular stator together with the external slots of the rotor constitutes the motor (i.e. drive) circuit of the brake motor, (c) the electro magnetic circuit of the cylindrical internal stator together with the internal slots of the rotor constitutes the brake circuit of the brake motor. Provides a motor of simple structure for directly controlling the motion of the neutron absorbing, ie. control rods, in the sealed reactor vessel of a pressurised water nuclear ractor.
