Abstract
The heater has a thermal core (1) with air passages (3) through it. The core has electric heater elements (2) connected to an input switch (11) which is operated from a control box (10). A fan (4) circulates air through the core to extract the stored heat during the daytime heating period. A wire (8) runs transversely through the core and has a resistance which is a uniform function of the temperature. It is connected to the control box (10) where its total resistance is measured to give an averaged value of the core temperature. This avoids errors arising from measurement of temperature at a single point in a core different parts of which are at different temperatures.
