Abstract

The ram comprises a cylinder and a piston/rod assembly (9, 10). In this assembly there are ports and chambers (C, 16), through which the hydraulic fluid can flow from inside the ram to a receiver downstream. The cylinder and piston rod can form a return chamber where the fluid circulates for the piston return stroke, and with a port to which a return pipe is connected. The assembly of piston and rod has an internal tube forming one return passage between rod and tube, and a chamber inside for the fluid flow from the variable-volume chamber between piston head and cylinder end to the receiver via the piston crown. Ports are provided in the rod to connect the return passage to return chamber and receiver.
