Abstract

Automatic cut-off nozzle for thermoplastics injection moulding cpd. has a nozzle passage closable by the inner end of a radially movable pin which is spring biassed towards the interior and opens automatically in response to injection moulding cpd. pressure. The spring is a strip received in an elongate longitudinal groove in the outside of the nozzle body and bearing at the front end of the pin and the rear end on the base of the groove, a pressing element engaging the external central zone of the strip. Since the spring is disposed inside the nozzle body the tip thereof can be inserted into a clamping plate recess of a size corresp. to the nozzle dia. The pressing element allows the biassing force to be adjusted for use with different cpds.
