Abstract

Connector for electrical cables, which require connection to heavy duty terminals as in the case of vehicle batteries and accumulators in general. The design is intended to reduce damage due to sulphation and over tightening. The connector has several possible forms but depends basically on compressing the cable against the side of the battery terminal (37). The overall shape is that of a flat side 'O' (36) the cable (38) and terminal being positioned at one end of the 'O'. The connector of metal or plastics is cut along the side of the 'O' to allow the cable to meet the terminal at right angles. Compression is achieved by a bolt (35) driven metal insert (33) pressing the cable against the terminal.
