Abstract

The upward-slanting presser has teo adjacent and contra rotating conveyor screws in it. At the back end of the presser, on its underneath side is a butter-milk sump which has a swan-neck-shaped, bent discharge pipe for the buttermilk running from it. Above the discharge pipe is a fine-meshed sieve in the sump; the sieve is driven by a motor. The outer area extends right up to a narrow gap on the inner wall of the buttermilk sump. The conveyor screws hav blades, near the buttermilk sump, for joining the floating butter particles.
