Abstract

A hollow bobbin (e.g. cylindrical conical) of a matl. which is substantially rigid but which can become deformed on repeated knocking, has internally of one end, (pref. both ends) a reinforcing ring. The ends of the bobbins are stronger and do not become damaged so easily e.g. by support flanges holding the bobbin during winding of a package, whereby the life of the bobbin is increased.
