Abstract

The bowl and drive shaft of a centrifuge are mounted elastically so that they move axially according to the wt. of the bowl and any solid or heavy liq. materials separated. This movement is measured and indicated either pneumatically, hydraulically or electro-mechanically by a dynamometric box, or by induction by a proximity detector, or by photo-electric cell, or by ultrasonics. The measuring device is fitted with a trip that either stops the centrifuge or brings on an automatic cleaning cycle when a predetermined downward movement of the shaft is reached. The measuring device can be regulated either when the centrifuge is stopped or during operation. On centrifuges that required periodic cleaning of the bowl due to clogging by the materials separated. Device can be adjusted during operation of the centrifuge according to the different densities of liqs. and solids to be separated.
