Abstract

A means of making a connection between a metal plate anchored to the inner face of a concrete wall of an enclosure, and a metal pipe, with a wall thicker than the platE, passing through the concrete, incorporates a connecting piece, a conical skirt and a tubular casing. The connecting piece converges to a neck which is welded to the end of the pipe and widens to its other end where it is welded to the edge of the hole in the plate. The thickness of the wall of the connecting piece increases from the metal plate to the pipe. The conical skirt is joined to the neck of the connecting piece by its smaller base and anchored by its larger base in the wall of the hole in the concrete through which the pipe passes. The tubular casing covers the hole in the concrete. The larger base of the conical skirt being joined to it by a tube threaded at both ends. The space between the pipe and the tubular casing is filled with insualting material. There is a guide piece between the pipe and the tubular casing. Used partic. for boiling water nuclear reactors. The invention minimises the effects of temp. and press. in the area of a pipe junction.
