Abstract

Thermostat-controlled mixing valve for hot water central heating system comprises a housing defining a mixing chamber (10) with hot and cold water inlets (11, 13), a hot water outlet (12) and a movable closure member (14) which is controlled by a thermostat (15) to open the cold water inlet. A second thermostat (18) with a variable-vol. chamber (19) is disposed near the first thermostat but outside the mixing chamber and acts on the first thermostat to increase temp. of the mixed water when outdoor temp. falls. A capillary tube (20) connected to a probe (21) subject to outdoor temp. is filled with a heat-expandable medium.
