Abstract
Actual C content of liquid iron in a converter during the O top blow is determined by measurement of CO and CO2 in the waste gas comprises the detn. of the C lost by combustion during the last third part of blowing O using three different linear approximation equations (1) using rate of decarburisation dC/dt or CO2 content (t) and their 1st differential quotient detd. from the waste gas anal. thus (2) using the oxygen blow quantity O2(t) based on the phys. - chem. balance of O quantity detd. from the charge and which is required to give the final C content, C2 = b0 + b1 (O2 soll-O2(t)), (3) assuming a linear decrease of percentage C during the last mins. o the blow (ta moment when evaluation begins); C3 = c0+c1 (t-ta). The individual factors C1, C2, C3 are evaluated by using A, B, C the sum of which is 1, and in the case where the exptl. and calcd. values for the detn. of C1 and C2 are not affected by faulty anal., they are approx. A:B:C 4:2:1, and in the case of exptl. values with errors the incorrect value is zero and the other two values are at a ratio B:C resp. A:C 2:1 (a1, a2, alpha1, alpha2, b0, b1, c0, c1 are constants, K, K1 constant amplifier factor).
