Abstract

The system consists of a feeding passage (1) between two rows of mangers (3) and racks (2). A row of cows facing the feeding passage on each side are separated one from the other by horizontal bars (6). A trolley (7) moves along the feeding passage on rails (1a). The trolley bears several milk tanks (8) and milking units and has at its side a platform (9) on which the milking units are mounted for a pair of cows, comprising a milk jar (10), a pulsator and a set of teat cups. The trolley is provided with a movable arm (12) pivoting at (14). The arm is hollow and contains the milk and vacuum pipes for the teat cups. It can be raised by operating a hydraulic jack (15), which lifts the arm above the backs of the cattle when the trolley moves to the next cow.
