Abstract

The pin (1) is hollow, and one end is split so as to form three separate jaws (3) into which the flower stems of different sizes can be inserted. A ring (4) encircling the pin, is then slid up, closing the jaws around the flower stems. The other end of the pin (5) is in the form of a point which is driven into the support of the flower arrangement. The point can be bevelled and hollow (7) to contain some water-retaining material to prolong the life of the flower, and it may also have external projections (8) to ensure that the point is retained in the support.
