Abstract

A humidity monitoring system for granular material mixed with water as it is discharged from hoppers in a concrete mixing plant, has two parallel rod shaped sensors (9, 10) positioned across the supply chute, spaced apart so that the material falls through them, fed from a circuit with a steady voltage,and connected to a fixed resistor (17) and a potentiometer (19) in series with a galvanometer (21) which has two capacitors (15, 16) in parallel with its coil, so as to obtain a direct reading of the humidity of the discharged material. A switching system (24, 26) can be manually or automatically operated.
