Abstract

An automatic line printer has a printing head carried on a guide bar and is moved axially between two limiting switching bars that control the feed of printing tape between two reels. The front end of the printing head is supported by a 'U' shaped guide integral with the head and locating around a guide rail on the pivot bracket. A linkage mechanism carries contact rollers to hold the paper against the feed roller. When the line of printing is complete the linkage simultaneously swings the contact roller clear and pivots the printing head clear of the feed roller. The paper is then indexed through one line distance and head returned to the printing position.
