Abstract
1517040 Perforating materials A LEMMER [trading as ALFRED LEMMER WERKZEUG - UND - MASCHINENBAU] 15 Dec 1975 [16 Dec 1974] 20315/77 Divided out of 1517039 Heading B4B [Also in Division B3] A sheet is perforated to form a pattern for use in assembling components on a circuit board using scanning means to scan a template, the scanning means including a pressure switch actuable when superimposed on a line-up symbol on the template, perforating means having a drive magnet connectible via the pressure switch with a power source and reducing means for causing the perforating means to reproduce the movement of the scanning means on a reduced rate. As shown, a finished circuit board 15 acting as a template, located on a table 12 by adjustable guides 13, 14 is scanned by a pin 9 mounted on a parallelogram linkage 4, 5, 7, 8 hinged to a support 2. A punch 19 is mounted at such a position on the arm 7 that its movement is scaled down from the scanning pin movement. The sheet 18 to be perforated on support 17 is located between the limbs of a C-frame 22 fixed to the punch body. A punch pin 21 is actuated by a magnet 20 connected to a power source 25 via a pressure switch 10 on one scanning pin so that when, the scanning pin 9 having been aligned with the hole corresponding to hole to be punched, the switch 10 is depressed to insert the pin in the hole the punch join is actuated. The punch may be replaced by a drill or by means for bombarding the sheet with an electron ray beam. The sheet may have a thicker integral edge portion to form a frame which has notches for locating it in a projector for the assembling operation. Alternatively, the sheet and frame are a onepiece stamping with flanged edges. The perforations may be fitted with transparent material or a transparent sheet may be bonded to one or both faces of the sheet. The sheet may be of plastics material.
