Abstract

Surfaces of metals, glass and plastics are temporarily protected by application of a liq. compsn. comprising (by wt) 5-40% soluble copolyamide (I); 55-85% ethanol or its mixts. with isopropanol and 0-20% water, then drying. (I) is esp. a copolymer (Ia) of nylons -66, -6 and -610, opt. mixed with a copolymer (Ib) of nylon-66, nylon-6 and a cyclic diamine. The compsn. can also contain pigments fillers, dyes, separation agents stabilisers and/or thickeners. Used esp. for protecting car bodies metal sheets before painting and metal doorframes. The films provide complete protection, are stable, easily removed by peeling and the removed films can be burned without causing pollution.
