Abstract

An artificial hip joint or implant for oesteosynthesis of epiphysal fractures of the femur, has epiphysal and diaphysal branches (2, 3) each forming an extension of the other, and inclined to each other. Conical holes are made in the branches at right angles to their centre lines, and the join between the branches has a bulge (7) through which a tapered hole (8) passes. The axle of this hole is obliquely inclined towards the end of the epiphysal branch (2) and to the side in relation to the axes of the drillings (5) in this branch so that a screw fitted in it (9) does not foul those (6) in the latter.
