Abstract

The magnetic suction cup lever release mechanism for gravitationally rolling fire cut-off doors, provides an alternative control to that actuated by fire. The door moves via rollers on an overhead ramped rail, and is held in the high withdrawn station by a pivoting lever catch which is in turn held in position via spring and traction cable (118) tying back to the closure post. A fusible loop bridge cable length provided the original release, and this is supplemented by an 'L' shaped release lever (129) which pivots about a vertical axis (128) at the node and is normally fixed via an electro-magnet (133) in contact with a plate attached to one 'L' leg (131). The release lever (129) locates on the rail (114) at the closure post, has the traction cable (118) anchored to its free leg (130), and is released by impulse or by cutting the electric supply to the electromagnet (133).
