Abstract

The automatic remote-controlled bolt-release mechanism for emergency doors is actuated by an electro-magnet (10). Vertically aligned bolts are provided on the top and bottom outer edges of the door leaf, and are displaced by a vertical sliding rod (5) which traverses the door height. Interruption of the current to the electro-magnet (10) releases a chain of spring-loaded pivoting plates. The plates swing away to release a coil spring (22) which displaces the sliding rod (5). The mechanism may include one 'L' shaped and two flat plates, each mounted on an axle and individually sprung. The 'L' shaped plate (31) is attracted to the magnetic head (15) to hold the intermediary flat plate (19) in the closed station. The latter plate holds the second flat plate (21) over the coil spring.
