Abstract

A machine for trying packaged items has the free tie centre end placed around the package by a gripper and then fitted into a closure preferably located at the bottom side of the package. The gripper (25) guiding the free tie centre end (30) has a second surround tie gripper (24) which supplies a surround tie centre section turning it inwards in an opposite direction to the first gripper into the closure installation (36) and which guides the free tie centre end during the subsequent tying process. Both grippers (24, 24) run in the same direction at the outset of each guide phase with one gripper forming a corner reverse for the tying medium at about the area of the first upper bend of the track.
