Abstract

Inhaler is intended for the nasal administration of an active, volatile principle which is enclosed initially in capsules or microcapsules. It consists of a cylindrical body with a conical tip supplied with an evacuation orifice; the other end of the body has an air intake. The body holds a large quantity of microcapsules enclosing an active principle for the treatment of colds and sinusitis. The piston is moved forward by the action of a screwed rod, driven by the knurled head; it is provided with orifices to allow the air inspired by the patient through the orifices to pass through the appts. and carry the active principle, liberated by the breaking of the capsules, through the nasal passages of the patient. To prevent the capsules from escaping through the orifices, retaining filters, of the honeycomb type. The active principle is completely isolated in the capsules until required for use; it is released progressively as desired, by operating the knurled head.
