Abstract
The electrode is used in conjunction with a generator which produces DC or a periodic current or a combination of both. The steel wires comprising the flexible metal mesh have a diameter of between 30 and 100 u, and the insulating covering consists of Nylon (RTM) cloth. One layer of the insulating cloth (16) is in contact with the patients skin, and the second layer (18) covering the metal mesh (12) is covered by a porous sponge (38) which is soaked in a conducting solution. The current supply contactor is a flat knife blade which distributes the incoming current over a wide area of the metal mesh.
