Abstract

Artificial teeth or crowns are prepared from a powder mixture with an average particle size of 25 mu and >95% Al2O3. The fused mixture is sprayed on a carrier to form a shell which is fired until the particles become agglomerated. The final shape can be given by small grinding wheels set with diamonds. This material has a higher strength than conventional materials used for dentures. It can be given any desired shape without difficulty. The white colour is compatible with denture ceramics and its great hardness results in little wear.
