Abstract
1487181 Teeth and bone replacement COLGATE PALMOLIVE CO 30 Oct 1974 [3 Aug 1973] 36888/73 Heading A5R [Also in Division C1] A sintered ceramic bone or tooth replacement is made by forming a shaped mass of a powdered synthetic apatitic material (as defined) or precursor mixture thereof and heating the shaped mass at a temperature in the range of 700‹ to 1400‹C. The apatitic material, which may be synthetic apatite material, which may be a synthetic apatite, hydroxy apatite, fluoropatite, fluorohydroxy apatite or calcium deficient apatite, may be modified to contain other metal cations, preferably zinc. An alkali metal or ammonium halide may be incorporated prior to sintering.
