Abstract

The stator windings surround the rotor (40) which rotates in a selected direction for a mechanical load drive. The stator windings extend axially in the stator (12). A hardened steel ring (70) is mounted on the rotatable stator (30) which rotates in a direction opposite to that of the rotor (40). Stator speed is slowed down by a control device with several electromagnets, thus varying the rotor speed. The hubs (26, 28) form part of the rotatable stator. Bell-shaped end pieces (32, 34) are screwed to the hubs to carry a cylindrical structure of magnetic field coils (36) which surround a short-circuit armature (40).
