Abstract

The fuel economiser (1) consists of truncated cone of perforated sheet metal which is fitted on the downsteam side of the carburettor (7) and is clamped against the flange of the inlet manifold (9) by the flange (3). Two vanes (4) and (5) also of perforated sheet metal are brazed inside the cone (1). These vanes are diametrically opposite to each other and inclined at an angle of about 30 deg. to the cone axis and at 60 deg. to each other. The device must be fitted to the carburettor (7) so that the edges of the vanes (4, 5) lie in the plane of the fully open butterfly valve plate (8). The device increases the air turbulence resulting in complete combustion of the fuel.
