Abstract
1516953 Recirculating exhaust gas NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 24 Feb 1976 [31 March 1975] 7186/76 Heading F1B To maintain the mass flow of recirculating exhaust gas through a vacuum operated EGR valve, independent of the pressure difference across said valve above a critical pressure value (equal to or greater than 100 m.m.H.g.) the valve-member 24 is shaped to coact with the Venturi section 22 so as to produce sonic gas flow in the Venturi above said critical pressure. To obtain sonic flow, the angle 0 is in the range 3 to 10 degrees. A flange portion 24b closes the control valve 2, and a control vacuum may be generated from a Venturi upstream of the air inlet throttle valve, Fig. 1. Different Venturi valve arrangements are disclosed. (Figs. 4-6 not shown).
