Abstract

In a machine for moulding measured volumes of a fluid paste, e.g. a food product e.g. as cheese. The machine combines storage space and controlled heat treatment for the paste, means for cutting and drainage of the paste, i.e. partic. curds for cheese making, a volumetric paste depositor and mould blocks on a conveyor which positions empty moulds for filling from the depositor and moves filled moulds on to be replaced by empty ones; all operations are effected mechanically and automatically in conjunction with gravity flow of paste right through from storage space to mould cavities, the rate at which paste is delivered into both depositor and mould cavities being continually controlled. The depositor pref. comprises a rotary, cylindrical drum, which has volumetric cavities filled from the storage space, the drum then rotating through 180 degrees to deliver paste from depositor cavities into mould cavities. Depositor and mould cavities are pref. lined with elastic sleeves which practically fill the cavities when inflated with compressed air and are controllably deflated to regulate flow of paste into the cavities. The texture and quality of the prod. is protected against undue transfer speeds into mould and depositor cavities.
