Abstract

Claimed ester wax is a COOH gp.-contg. hydrocarbon wax (A) having mol. wt. 400-8000 (av. mol. wt. 700-3000), acid no. 10-100 (12-65), contg. 0.07-14.28 (0.15-3.48) mol COOH gp./mol wax, having density 0.9 to 1.05 and dropping point 65-140 (80-125) degrees C, in which >=50% of COOH gps. are part of an ester of formul X-(O-CHR1-CHR2)-mOT2 (I) (where 1 of R1 and R2 is H or Me and the other is H; m is 0-50 (7-20) esp. 12-15; X is H or gp. WCO-representing the acyl gp. of the COOH gp.-contg. wax used, T2 is X or a gp. of formula -CH2-Z2-CH2-(OCHR1-CHR2)-mOX in which Z2 is a gp.: (where n is 1 to 4 and >=1 X in molecule is WCO and sum of all m in molecule is 1-50). Ester waves are used as esp. 0.01-3 wt. % aq. dispersions for wash-proof softening finish of esp. synthetic textiles, as fibres or fabrics. Stock dispersions contain 30 wt. % ester wax. West-soiling properties of fibres are hardly affected.
