Abstract

The bracket has a slot (6a) accommodating the threaded end (4) of the wheel spindle, onto which a nut screws (5). There are protrusions (7a, 7b) on the outer face of the foot, clear of the area against which the nut bears, at the lower ends of the recess at least. These protrusions can be in the form of curved ribs moulded in, on opposite sides of the slot and at the edges of the bracket, one of them extending above the slot opposite to the mouth of the latter. The ends of the bracket on opposite sides of the slot can be bent over towards the outside. The design ensures that the wing nut etc. holding the spindle has to be slackened right off to remove the wheel, which cannot jump out of the fork if the nut loosens only slightly.
