Abstract

Quick acting spindle with a cylindrical driving part formed so as to fit coaxially on the machine tool spindle allowing the driving part of this spindle to be engaged. A tool carrying spindle is located coaxially rotatable in this driving part so that it rotates freely without longitudinal displacement. Three balls are fitted in the driving part, distributed at equal angles so that they may rotate around axes parallel to that of the spindle. They roll within a bearing integral with the tool holder and a concentric outer muff incorporating an inner bearing. Blunt conical spring loaded rings form the race for the balls in the muff, and the contraction of the bearing on the tool holder spindle is restricted by sector parts arranged symmetrically on both sides of the diametrical plane and vertical to the axes of the spindle.
