Abstract

The mechanism allows the machine to move itself to and fro along a long track assembled from sections, and consists of a pinion driven by a motor and mounted in a frame. A component fixed to the frame holds it against the track, each section of which has a series of sockets forming a rack (18) with which the pinion meshes (16). Connectors secure the adjacent track sections together, preventing them from moving in the lengthwise direction in relation to each other, while allowing a limited amount of pivoting movement. The holding component (30) can be adjacent to the pinion.
