Abstract

The device consists of a frame bearing a number of single and double supports pivoting about pins for each pair of rollers which are parallel to the direction of travel, and which are able to move transversely. Fixed supports have supporting stays. The rollers have grooved surfaces of some adherent material suitable for grasping plants. Control of the reciprocal motion of the rollers can be by a mechanical or hydraulic device acting through a rod pivoting upon a support. A spring system ensures firm contact between the rollers. The offset of the movable or fixed parts can be adjusted. Metal guides are fitted between the fixed and movable rollers to channel the plants between the rollers.
