Abstract

The unit comprises a tubular housing enclosing the light source proper and sealed at each end by a disc, one of which at least is removable. Support brackets grip the housing by quick-release mechanisms at two separate points, and connections for electric supply cables are included. The connection (11) is of the sealed type, comprising a socket (11a) sealed into an opening in the removable disc (2) and electrically connected to the light source, and accommodating a plug (11b) on the end of the electric supply cable (9). The arrangement is particularly for use in a dusty or corrosive atmosphere.
