Abstract

Introduction of hydrogen into water, partic. water under pressure and esp. the primary coolant for a pressure-water nuclear reactor, by circulating a current of gaseous hydrogen and a current of water on the opposite sides of a Pd-based barrier, in such a way that the hydrogen diffuses through barrier into the water. Process solves the problem of maintaining the concn. of dissolved hydrogen in the pressurised water, without difficulties involved in working with hydrogen at the very high pressure required to cause it to dissolve at the temps. and pressures involved.
