Abstract
The mechanism may be hooked onto the transom of a small boat and consists of a tiller arm which is directly connected to a vertical shaft (14). The shaft is fitted with gudgeons to connect with pintles on the transom. The shaft carries a blade which is able to rock about the vertical plane, through an angle of 45 deg. The blade is mounted in the forked upper surface of a sleeve (10) which is secured to an inner shaft (9) by pins (15). The shaft (9) is inclined 30 deg. to the horizontal and is connected at its forward end to the vertical shaft (4) by a horizontal pin (7). The shaft (4) carries a stop (13) correctly positioning the shaft (9).
