Abstract

Cushioning of an automatic weapon firing a bursts where shots, with exception of the first one, are triggered by the return movement of the weapon to starting position, comprising a mounting arrangement for fixing to a structure, a recoil part and mounting and braking arrangements between mounting and recoil parts to slow down the recoil. The arrangement operates the braking devices after the first shot to render it ineffective or reduce its effectiveness. This is mainly achieved through hydraulic liquid or oil in the chambers round a barrel of a weapon and spring loaded valves and piston controlling chamber inlets and outlets to enable liquid to operate either side of the recoil mechanism.
