Abstract

A vehicle rear window heating element used also as a radio receiver aerial, has central (Z, 3) and lateral (R, 4) conductor systems forming respectively the aerial and the ohmic resistance for pane (2) heating. The aerial can be built up from several 'U' shaped elements and connects to an amplifier (5). The laterals constitute groups of parallel elements (4) connected to a heating current circuit. Both 'U' legs (3) and laterals (4) are normal to the length of the pane, and the 'U' bases are sufficiently interspaced from the pane edge to prevent capacitive coupling with the vehicle chassis etc.
