Abstract

The stud permits a permanent elastic fixing between at least two sheets of material. The stud has a shank (13), and a head with a concave under surface and also has an annular groove (17) at the other end. The stud is inserted through one or several sheets (10) into a hole (16) in a boss (18) formed in the base sheet (11). To assemble the sheets together, the boss is placed in the conical depression (20) of a mandrel (21) and the stud head forced down with a punch (22). This action deforms the boss to fit the annular grooves and retains the stud in position. The stud may be formed with a number of smaller grooves instead of one large one.
