Abstract

The harvesting machine of 2282213 uses an air flow, at 90 deg. to the flow of chopped sugar cane and below the sugar cane flow, to discharge the chopped cane. The air flow is received by a spiral conduit opening downwards and rearwards, the conduit having two rectangular openings forming a face and having the bisector of the dihedral formed by the cane flow passing through their centre. Heavy foreign objects pass through the openings to a rotary centrifugal ejector, lighter objects only passing through the first opening to be entrained by the air flow. The ejector passes the heavy objects to a hopper.
