Abstract

Evaporative cooling tower for cooling wate through air, which enters in a zone at the base of the cooling tower directed against its axis, flows upwards by flue action and on it way cools the counter-flowing water which is distributed by a tube system and which runs off trickle elements arranged above the zone of the air inlet. The trickle elements (16) are suspended on a support construction fixed to a central support mast (3) and the drawing together of the cooled water running on the trickle elements takes place above the zone of the air inlet into the cooling tower to reduce drop formation. The air entry zone is essentially free of flow resisting units.
