Abstract
Electrical motor or generator with magnetisation in the axial direction, producing a very favourable power to weight ratio. The magnetisation field is produced by permanent or electromagnets (12) mounted on a magnetically conducting end plate (12). The armature or stator is made with radial slots (23) which contain the armature windings. The iron core (18) of the armature consists of a ring shaped body formed out of one or more strips (27) of dynamo sheet material wound in a spiral. The cross section in the axial plane of the ring forming the iron core is near enough square (A). The dimensions are calculated to obtain the maximum produce of the cross-sectional area of the magnetic field and the effective cross sectional area of the armature windings.
