Abstract

Laser using gaseous laser medium, e.g., a variable CO-O2 mixture of CO2, comprises flexible pipes for supplying the gaseous medium to the laser tube, made of plasticiser-free plastics, pref. PTFE. This prevents deposition of carbon in the laser tube, which is due to content of plasticisers in plastics parts and not due to insufficient O2 content in laser gas mixture. The use of plastics material containing no plasticisers may also be applied to other components normally made of plastics which may contain plasticisers e.g. valves.
